The Delmarva Peninsula fox squirrel is a subspecies of the eastern fox squirrel that is unique to the Delmarva Peninsula. This once-endangered animal prefers to search for food and eat on the ground, and can be easily distinguished by its silvery coat, long bushy tail, and large size relative to the common gray squirrel.
